At the beginning of July, NP was joined by Hannah Pierce for a week’s work experience.  We asked Hannah to write a blog post about her experiences and her introduction to PR:

Joining NP earlier this week was a nerve wracking experience but I have never felt so welcome! It has been one of the most valuable experiences I’ve gained in regards to helping me on my way into the world of work. As the end of my A Level studies approach, I have to spend a lot of time considering my choices for a career and PR has been a real interest of mine.

I feel very fortunate to have had this opportunity and that NP has been so supportive in ensuring I gain valuable knowledge for me to take on further in life.

I have been lucky enough to have had experience with some of the products the team are currently working with, including Polk BOOM Swimmer and Bit, researching and using the products and putting together some social media post ideas for them. Also spending time filming videos for brands like FOCAL and coming up with ideas with the rest of the team.

Through the middle of the week, I was lucky enough to have been invited to a lunch with Mark Sparrow, who is one of the UK’s foremost headphone reviewers and was happy to answer any questions I had regarding communications between PR companies and Journalists. It was extremely useful and gave me a better insight into how important it is for PR agencies to develop close relationships with the media.

The NP team have been so considerate of me this week and have really gone out of their way to share their knowledge and begin to show me how they do their jobs utilising their individual strengths and differences. I have learnt that PR really involves bringing out your creative side as well as being able to be methodical and confident through making important communications and developing strong relationships with a wide variety of people.

There is so much more to PR than I initially thought and gaining an insight of it this week has only encouraged me to want to take it further.

Thank you NP!
