Napthine Porter Visits the High End - Munich

The High End in Munich is a key event for our calendar every year. This year saw its 36th consecutive staging and took place between 18th and 21st May. Over 530 exhibitors from over 40 countries descended on Munich, attracting a crowd of more than 21,000 visitors. Andy, a regular at the High End Show, was pleased to attend for another year – representing and accompanying a range of our clients, including OPPO, Melco, T+A, SME and Atlas Cables.

OPPO was proud to showcase its range of high end UHD Blu-ray players, including the new UDP-203 and UDP-205 ranges.  Rapidly becoming known as THE Blu-ray players of choice regardless of budget, the OPPO stand was packed throughout the course of the show.

Atlas Cables launched the latest addition to its high-end analogue cable range – Grun coherent earthing system. Designed for use with its Asimi and Mavros ranges, Grun technology improves the earthing capability of the connections between source and amplifier, reducing the harmful effects of RFI (Radio Frequency Interference) and EMI (Electro Magnetic Interference) commonly found in homes due to the proliferation of wireless data transfer and dirty power supplies.  As ever, Atlas was building cables on its stand, showing just how much attention to detail goes into the hand-building of its cable range.

Melco took an open booth in the Atrium, where it displayed its latest MKII digital media libraries.  Also on show were prototypes of a CD drive and back-up drive, whilst Songkong for Melco was being demonstrated.

T+A launched a bunch of new products, with new Cala products being the star of the show.  Also shown to the public for the first time was the latest edition to the R-Series – the MP 2500 R multi-source SACD player.  The T+A hospitality lived up to its legendary status…

It was great to see the team from SME, with the brand exhibiting at the show for the first time.  On a great stand that combined the company’s legacy and a vision of the future, SME wowed visitors by showing its latest turntable and tonearm finish options, whilst demonstrating its top of the range Model 30 turntable through Nagra amplifiers and YG speakers – surely one of the best sounds of the show!

As a veteran of the High End Show, Andy was pleased to see familiar faces and mingle with industry friends from across the board. “I’ve been attending the High End Show for at least 20 years and its always a great place to meet up with industry friends and see our clients presenting new products and concepts. It’s going to be an exciting year for many of them and the High End Show is the perfect opportunity to showcase.”
